The Italian Association of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers (Acimall) reported that, due to a 15.5% drop in foreign orders, orders for woodworking machinery and tools in Italy fell by 9.9% in the second quarter of 2018. The domestic market performed positively, with an increase of 29.4%, balancing these figures.

The Italian Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers Association pointed out that the reasons for the decline in exports from April to June 2018 were new tariffs on a global scale, increases in energy products, and financial instability in some emerging countries.

The number of orders dropped to 3.1 units/month (previous quarter: 3.4), while prices as of January 1st increased slightly (0.4%).
