The Italian Association of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers (Acimall) reported that, with foreign orders down 15.5%, Italy’s woodworking machinery and tool orders fell by 9.9% in the second quarter of 2018. Meanwhile, domestic market performance was robust, posting a 29.4% increase, which helped offset these figures.

The Italian Association of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers stated that the decline in exports from April to June 2018 was attributable to new tariffs worldwide, rising energy costs, and financial instability in several emerging economies.

Order volume declined to 3.1 per month (compared with 3.4 in the previous quarter), while prices as of January 1 rose slightly (by 0.4%).
